GHANA FOR ELECTRONIC VOTING IN 2016???

Ghana’s just ended presidential and parliamentary elections was one of a kind. One may like to ask why!?

Way from 1992 to 2008, elections in Ghana have seen in a series of commotion, riots and misunderstanding in various locations in the country. Mostly, pre-election strife are often erected in areas of high tension over parliamentary seats. This  pursuit may stretch commotion further through even the general election.

Considering this year however, the election process was a very peaceful one. Just like forming a queue to buy your favorite wakye or kenkey.

I commend the Electoral Commision (E.C) on the innovative venture into biometric registration and verification. Even though, the election itself was peaceful, but the aftermath was nothing to write home about.

With the opposition Party, NPP having a pending case at the country’s Supreme Court of Justice against the E.C, there have been series of damages to property and threats to human lives. The opposition party’s main claim is that, the EC did not do it’s dirty job at the polls, but the various collation centers. As polling agents headed back to the party’s offices with blue sheets of the tally results, the EC officials of the affected ares actually returned wrong figures for the various constituencies.

This is an issue of injustice that we count on our legal system to deal diligently with, to ensure, no one takes the law for granted.

For the 22,000 polling stations, I believe the cost of going ELECTRONIC, will suffice the cost of damage to property and human resource, which form part of the major contributors to the nation’s Gross Domestic Products (GDP). Thus, serving the people better and also making the people feel they have the result of what they want/need.

One might seem naive, but let’s not forget, once there was a peaceful election, there can be a peaceful aftermath… and the only answer is.. ELECTRONIC VOTING!??

I’ll like to take all the pleasure of organising this poll on Ghana’s next election, dubbed, ELECTION 2016, or, GHANA VOTES 2016.
This poll is intended to be forwarded to the EC in the next two years after gaining much public attention and interest. To allow the EC know, if the people would be really interested in going ELECTRONIC. By which time it is believed the EC can have enough time to organise and test the machines in the next year to be used the following year, 2016.

By going Electronic, issue of rejected votes will be a thing of the past. And so will the issue with counting and collating.

Here  are some photos of the EVM.

Indeed Electronic voting Machine is our solution to these Gargantuan crimes in the recent elections held in my own country Ghana. Education is always the key to success and i believe the Electoral Commission of Ghana accepting the introduction of the ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINE and educating our people on the use of these machines will reduce the workload of the E.C and the election been transparent and fair to the people of GHANA. and i truly believe is a dream came true 2016.
